Sandrine Grimaud Lebeaux
Painter and engraver, originally from Champagne and adopted by Deux-Sèvres, Sandrine currently lives in Chartres. A graduate of the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Versailles, she is a member of the Maison des Artistes and the Collectif Impressions d'Encre in the Paris region.
Rivers, streams, marshes, hortillonnages, oceans have always been present in Sandrine's life and influence her work and her way of working.
"Water is omnipresent in my work. It guides my hand and my sensitivity! I like the fluidity and transparency of the inks which allow the weave of the paper or canvas to be seen."
"Water and plants are inseparable subjects for me. Their symbolism, so strong, expresses life, longevity, fertility, purification, divinity, travel, or even the passage of time. I alternate landscapes that are constantly moving and changing."
Sandrine's favorite themes are the cycle of life, childhood, solitude and resilience.
"I speak of Man, sometimes secret or exuberant, light or dark, weak or powerful, peaceful or violent. My works, always resilient, represent a barrier against the aggressions of daily life or the harshness of life."
Whirlwind: Between Violence and Healing
The series of paintings titled "Whirlwind" explores the tumultuous whirlwinds of human emotions through indigo blue swirls.
Each canvas is a dive into the intensity of trauma and the quest for healing, capturing the essence of these complex emotional states with a palette of deep blues.
The indigo swirls at the heart of each work symbolize the violence of trauma. These powerful and dynamic spirals express the raw force of difficult experiences, moments of chaos and inner disorder. The vigorous brushstrokes and swirling textures embody struggle and turmoil, making visible the invisible, raw emotion and pain.
Yet amidst this emotional violence, the “Whirlwind” series also offers prospects for healing. The shades of indigo blue, ranging from dark and stormy to lighter and more calming, represent the path to resilience and restoration. The swirling movements, though chaotic, eventually calm down, symbolizing the peace found after the storm. Each canvas tells a story of transformation, where turbulence gradually gives way to tranquility.
"Whirlwind" is a series that evokes the intensity of human emotions, the confrontation with trauma and the power of healing. Through the indigo blue swirls, the artist invites us to reflect on our own emotional journeys, acknowledging the violence of past experiences while embracing the possibility of renewal and inner peace.
